Tetiaroa is a microcosm for testing novel ways we can help save species in harmony with people.

James Russell is Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland, New Zealand and Associate Editor of the journal Biological Invasions. His work in island conservation and biosecurity brings together diverse scientific approaches to solve contemporary problems such as achieving and maintaining pest-free status on islands, and restoring terrestrial ecological communities. Results from this work have been used both for conservation, and testing ecological theory, on islands around the world. James has been working on Tetiaroa since 2009 documenting and working towards conserving the terrestrial fauna such as seabirds; one of the last places they are found in the Society Islands.
