Interesting facts

The halfbeak is often confused with needlefish, but it is noticeably smaller and has a slightly different mouth: its lower jaw is much more pronounced than the upper jaw. The halfbeak’s body is a silvery blue underlined with a dark blue line. It is a very common inhabitant of calm waters that are often refreshed in lagoons. It often travels in schools, always near the surface. This fish eats small fish, zooplankton, and drifting organic detritus.
