'Oti'a

These 4 to 10 ton animals measure 15 to 27 feet (5 to 9 meters). They eat fish an crustaceans. The orca is rare in French Polynesia and therefore typical pods consist of 2 to 6 individuals. These whales breed throughout the yea and favor deep waters and the open ocean. Their gestation period is between 15 and 18 months. Several sightings have confirmed their presence in French Polynesia but no information on their origin nor destination is known.
