Ctenochaetus striatus, commonly called striated fish-surgeon, is a species of marine fish of the family Acanthuridae. The striated Fish Surgeon is present in the tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific region; The Hawaiian Archipelago, the Marquesas Islands and Easter Island are excluded. Its maximum size is 24 cm but the size generally observed is 18 cm. It is visible inside the lagoon but also outside on the outer reef slope, at depths of between 1 and 30 m. During the mating season large groups are formed. This fish eats mainly algae and little invertebrates.
